“Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” Forrest Gump

When I was a little girl I remember getting boxed chocolates for Valentine’s Day and most of the fun was finding out what was hiding inside that yummy chocolate cover!

It didn’t take me long to figure out a method for getting a “sneak peek” before I bit into the chocolate! If I could stick my thumb into the bottom of the chocolate just so I could figure out what I was going to bite into.  My sister and I would race to see who could find the caramel first!  Of course that was our favorite, but mom and dad didn’t like it too much when they found a whole box of broken chocolates!  😉

The activity I am sharing with you today grew out of a discussion in my preschool classroom when I brought in a couple of old valentine chocolate boxes. We talked about the shape of the boxes, their size, and what was in them. I asked the children if they had ever had a box of chocolates. Most of them had not.

That’s why we started playing this fun Valentine Guessing Game. I originally used the two old heart-shaped chocolate boxes for the game. Later, when those boxes started falling apart, I found some cute little heart-shaped boxes in the Target Dollar Spot to use for the activity.
